USA Racquetball Announces 2024 Board of Directors Election Results

by Tony Prater, Election Committee Chair

Colorado Springs, Colorado -- The USA Racquetball Election Committee, chaired by Tony Prater, announced today the results of the Board of Directors election that concluded on March 31.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION

Congratulations to newly elected members Ro-el Cordero and Cheryl Kirk, who will begin their terms on the USA Racquetball Board of Directors at its Annual Meeting in May.

Two seats were available this election cycle, and the communication process began in October, 2023, with announcements on the USA Racquetball website, social media, and via email to members outlining the process, requirements, and deadlines. The Election Committee executed the vetting process and presented a slate of well qualified applicants for approval to the Board of Directors for final approval. General membership voting commenced March 1, 2024, and concluded March 31, 2024.

In their statements of interest, Cordero and Kirk articulated their decision to throw their hats into the ring:

“I’m interested in serving you and the USAR with two primary goals in mind: Growth and Community. First, I want to work with state programs to develop and grow more junior, high school and collegiate programs. We need these programs to ensure future participation in our sport grows as a whole. Second, I’m interested in improving racquetball's online and tech presence by modernizing our tech stack” -- Ro-el Cordero

“Racquetball requires a wide array of dedicated leaders and supporters with diverse skills, experience, and backgrounds: people who will wholeheartedly work to preserve it for future generations. That, in part, means saving courts through creative programming initiatives at the facility level and inspiring Racquetball players to take the time to teach the sport, both indoor and outdoor, to new players -- juniors and adults alike.” -- Cheryl Kirk

USA Racquetball's gratitude goes to Ro-el Cordero and Cheryl Kirk for their willingness to support USA Racquetball, the sport, and its players. Warm thanks go to departing At-Large Board members Terry Rogers and Todd Boss for their dedicated service over the past 6 years and 3.5 years, respectively.

We invite and encourage USA Racquetball members to consider Board service when the next cycle commences this summer. Another way to become involved is to join a committee of interest.
