Over 70 players crowned National Champions

The 2009 USA Racquetball National Singles Racquetball Championships presented by Penn Racquet Sports concluded this past weekend. For the past 26 years the event has taken place at the historic Downtown YMCA in Houston, TX over the Memorial Day weekend.
After 26 years of hosting the National Singles in Houston the venue will be moved and the new facility willl not have enough courts to host the event. The event also celebrated the induction of four new Hall Of Fame inductees during the Banquet and Awards Celebration on Saturday evening.
The National Singles, referred to as "The Finals" is the pinnacle of the sport and the only national championship for singles competition. Over 500 players competed for the right to be named "National Champion" in 70+ divisions separated by age, skill, and age-skill.
In addition, semi-finalists in the Men's and Women's National Team Qualifier Divisions earn one year appointments to the U.S. National Team.
The tournament is presented by Head/Penn and sponsored by Ektelon, Wilson, Gearbox, Pro Kennex, Hyatt, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Dr. Pepper/Snapple and Academy Sports & Outdoors.
